This is a 1981 French text book featuring the work of Bernard Cathelin. Small square folio with 172 pages. Profusely illustrated in color and b&w including many full page. One notable feature is it includes a catalogue raisonne of the artist's popular lithographs.
Bernard Cathelin (1919-2004) was a French painter born in Paris and a member of the School of Paris. He was known for his uniquely stylized abstractions of flowers, landscapes, and figures. Utilizing thick palette knife applications and rich colors, Cathelin produces a sense of light and corporeal form in his paintings, not unlike the work of Nicolas de Staël.
