"far at sea" is an original oil painting, inspired by a historic ocean expedition.
The crew in this case was searching for a species believed to be extinct. I wanted this piece to feel more like a memory than documentation, as if you’ve stumbled upon a moment from long ago.
I often work from found vintage photographs and see painting as a way to give them new life in our time. This maritime scene carries a sense of quiet intent, well suited for coastal homes, studies, or spaces drawn to narrative-driven artwork.
