Interestingly, this bowl is a complete departure from their typical work. In this piece, they appear to reference Mimbres black-on-white pottery. The distinctive Mimbres style is believed to be the work of people of the Mogollon culture. (those living within the Mimbres Branch subregion of the Mogollon culture area). A 2020 study presented an interesting fact about Mimbres pottery: Mimbres sites have almost all the Mimbres pottery. In contrast, other Southwest styles gradually taper off. Thus, there is some support for viewing the Mimbres region as one with identifiable boundaries. This ceramic measures approximately 7.3" across and over 2" tall. There is a small chip on the rim.
