Here's a lovely carved wood and gilded mirror from the 1920's. This is not a reproduction. It is in terrific shape, with no apparent loss to the gilding. It measures 34 1/2" tall by 21". The frame is finished in gold leaf with a characteristic warm, lustrous appearance.
It is a fine example of decorative craftsmanship featuring an ornate carved wood mirror with gilded detailing. The frame features a carved floral and foliate design on the crest. The carving work demonstrates skilled artisanship typical of the era, with deeply sculpted leaves, flowers, and scrollwork that creates rich dimensional texture. The mirror was replaced decades ago, based on the old backing that I removed. The glass is in lovely vintage condition with no issues.
This is a lovely choice as a powder room mirror, as well as an entry or wall mirror.
This is ready to ship. The weight is 12 pounds before packing.

The glass was replaced in the 1930's. Gilding is in great condition, with a faint spot where the bole peeks through. Bole is a finely ground clay traditionally used in water gilding to enhance the final appearance of gilt surfaces. A peek of bole is common and is not considered a flaw. The color of the bole under the leaf significantly affects the look of the gilded surface, making it a crucial tool for creating unique and original finishes with genuine gold leaf. less
