This charming vintage jigsaw puzzle features a richly illustrated English fox hunting scene, complete with red-jacketed riders, horses, hounds, and a lady bidding farewell at the door. Dating from the 1930s, the puzzle is hand-cut from plywood using a scroll saw, with whimsical, irregular piece shapes that speak to its early production.
Measuring approximately 6.5 inches wide by 5 inches tall, it’s a compact gem—perfect as a collectible, a decorative curiosity for a coffee table , or a nostalgic gift. The image is lithographically printed and mounted onto the wood, with a natural wood back that remains unmarked and clean.
A wonderful example of pre-war or mid-century craftsmanship, this puzzle was made in the U.K. before the rise of mass-market chipboard puzzles. Ideal for collectors of antique memorabilia or British sporting art.
The puzzle is made of high-quality 3-ply plywood, evident from the layered side profile, and was likely cut by hand using a scroll saw. This construction method was common before the shift to chipboard in mass puzzle production.
