Verdigris bronze figure suspended within a sculptural rusted iron orb offers a poetic meditation on confinement and transcendence. Caged Woman 2 (Ø 32 cm) by Aldonza features a slender Venus-inspired form—arms gently outstretched, eyes closed—crafted via traditional lost-wax casting and finished in a rich green patina. The surrounding cage of hand-forged iron rods, left to oxidize naturally, creates an organic lattice that both encloses and elevates the central bronze figure. Aldonza’s “Caged Women” series draws on Paleolithic Venus iconography to explore the ancestral inequalities faced by women. Here, the interplay of smooth verdigris bronze and raw, rust-textured iron evokes earth’s elemental forces and the dual nature of vulnerability and resilience. Each iron orb is hand-welded, resulting in unique warp and twist patterns that frame the bronze form like a protective shell. The verdigris finish recalls ancient oxidation processes, reinforcing the dialogue between age-old myths and contemporary concerns. Caged Woman 2 can be displayed alone on a low plinth or paired with its series counterparts as part of a cohesive installation. Collectors may acquire individual figures or commission the full “Caged Women” ensemble for a striking gallery installation. Presented in museum-quality condition, this piece ships in a custom wooden crate (35 × 35 × 35 cm, 6 kg packed) and arrives ready for secure display.
