* konrad lueg worked as a painter from 1963 to 1968. Lueg created so-called "pattern paintings" in a deliberately chosen proximity to wallpaper. He worked closely with sigmar polke and gerhard richter. Ironically countering socialist realism, which was largely prescribed as the official art movement in the socialist countries of the eastern bloc, they created capitalist realism, with which they critically examined the consumerist orientation of the west. For example, in the demonstration "living with pop" – a demonstration for capitalist realism, which they organized together with richter on october 11, 1963, in the düsseldorf furniture store berges, whose owner he knew personally. Through this action, they initiated german pop art. Since lueg could not earn a living as a painter, he also worked as an art teacher at a high school in düsseldorf-gerresheim until 1967.
