This striking 19th-century terracotta Pithari was hand-crafted in Crete and once served as a functional storage vessel for olive oil or grain in a rural Greek estate. Monumental in scale and presence, its sculptural silhouette features classic Pithari proportions, broad shoulders, tapered base, and loop handles. The surface bears a soft chalky lime whitewash, beautifully weathered from time and use.
These vessels were traditionally buried or stored in shaded courtyards to preserve their contents, and each one tells its own story of utility and age. Today, it makes a stunning indoor or outdoor focal point. Perfect as a planter, stand-alone statement piece, or grounding element in a layered European-style space.
