Dating to circa 1700, this heavy stone armorial has been hand-carved in relief. The 9 1/2 inch thick stone was found on a chateau in Nice, France. The coat of arms consists of a fluted shield charged with two greyhounds that is topped by a thickly bejeweled closed crown. Two rampant and langued lion supporters stand on a protruding entablature with a cavetto cornice.
