“Neo-Baroque” Stool, acrylic glass, Acrila, 2000/2010 – France
An original and playful stool designed by Acrila, a French firm known for its contemporary acrylic (or Plexiglas) furniture. In their creations, shape, image, transparency, and light are masterfully combined. They represent the perfect fusion of tradition and modernity, as their creations are truly avant-garde stylizations of past styles, but in a completely modern material.
In this case, a high, adjustable stool that, taking advantage of the transparency of the seat and backrest material, imitates the upholstery of a Baroque-era chair, with brocade or damask in a deep pink color. The black profile evokes the carved wooden frame of a chair from the period. A great opportunity to acquire a unique piece of high-end French design!
About Acrila
Acrila is a French design company based in Bordeaux, founded in 2007 by Jean-Christophe Bernard and Isabelle Bernard. It is recognized for its innovative approach, creating contemporary acrylic furniture with unique and extravagant designs. Its founder developed a printing process that allows graphic images to be printed directly onto the acrylic using an industrial printer. Therefore, each piece of furniture is handmade, undergoing printing, shaping, and polishing processes.
The material used, acrylic glass, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, scratch- and sun-resistant, and does not yellow over time. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is one of its main designers. An iconoclast and avant-garde artist with a flair for Pop Art, he combines fashion with art, creating fun and colorful designs. Acrila's designs are exhibited in more than 55 countries around the world. The company is revolutionizing the world of decoration and design, creating contemporary furniture pieces that bring luxury and modernity to the home.
