This 19th-century Biedermeier oil portrait shows Friedericke Dreysel, wife of Julius Ferdinand Dreysel, who took over the family textile business in Plauen after her husband’s early death in 1867. A rare role for a woman of her time. Painted around 1840 on panel, she is seated in a black high-necked dress with a finely embroidered white blouse and lace details.
On the back is a original handwritten label confirming her identity and provenance. A unique portrait that adds character and story to your home.
