A charming unique mid-century Japanese porcelain plate featuring two kimono-clad court figures rendered in a traditional Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Day/Doll Festival) inspired scene. The composition evokes classic hina dolls, with formal robes, delicate expressions, and flowering branches set against a luminous white ground.
Hand-painted in a Kutani-style palette of iron red, celadon green, soft blue, and black enamel, the brushwork has a lovely graphic clarity and folk-art sweetness that makes the piece feel both decorative and timeless.
Marked “Made in Japan” to the underside, dating the plate to the post-war export period, circa 1950s–60s. Beautiful displayed on a wall, in a plate stand, or layered into a collected tabletop vignette.
Light wear to the foot ring consistent with age. No chips, cracks, or repairs.
A sweet accent for chinoiserie, grandmillennial, Japandi, or eclectic interiors.
