An exquisite antique porcelain bowl hand-painted with a serene lakeside landscape in deep sunset tones. Silhouetted trees frame the scene, which is rendered in moody oranges, lavenders, and ochres, with delicate gold trim adding a refined touch. This piece is marked with the classic "M-in-wreath" Nippon stamp, denoting production by the Morimura Brothers, the founders of Noritake.
Made exclusively for export to the U.S. between 1911 and 1921, this early 20th-century bowl showcases the artistry and craftsmanship that made Nippon porcelain so sought after.
One small surface scratch is visible across part of the tree silhouette, pictured in second to last picture—this affects only the black painted detail and not the underlying porcelain or gold. It does not detract from the overall visual impact and is consistent with the age and handmade nature of Nippon porcelain.
