This offering is a four piece service consisting of an 18 cup capacity soup tureen, platter and soup ladle. It is listed as their Signature Series Giardino Faience Tureen. It was produced in the 1960s, with a limited edition of 1200 sets. Fitz and Floyd has set the standard for its fine quality offerings, providing dinnerware service for the likes of Presidents and Governments from around the world. They created a one of a kind tea service for the late Queen Elizabeth in the 1990's. The design of the top of the tureen is a marvel to behold. Their commitment to excellence in design and execution is superior. The realistic portrayal of the onions, leeks, garlic, artichoke, green tomato, cauliflower, cabbage, shallots, green beans, artichokes and cucumber are unparalleled in artistry. The choice of the shade of green glaze is perfection as a backdrop. There is an acorn cartouche on the front of the tureen and platter. This set is purely a work of art. This piece has never been used in service and is pristine. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. There are what seems to be intentional swaths of glaze that are designed to create an antique look of wear. All in all, this set is a stunning reminder of the careful curation of service ware as art. The tureen measures 15.5" wide x 8" deep x 14" tall. The platter measures 19.5" wide x 8.5" deep x 3" tall at handles. The ladle measures 12" long. A truly wonderful find! See less
