A fantastic antique marriage or bridal box from Normandy, France. the petite trunk is decorated with stylized foliate details that grace the exterior. Pink and cream painted flowers (appearing as pale circles against the dark blue background) grow from bright green leaves–all marvelously patinated over the past two centuries, expressing the trunk’s age in a manner that one can both see and feel. The minimal metal hardware has all been worked by hand. The domed top provides a distinguished style that sets this exceptional trunk apart from any ordinary box, making it all the more dear knowing it was crafted for a special life milestone, circa 1780.
