Depicting a dog, I presume a Schnauzer, signed under the base with an ancient mark of the Goebel manufacture, Germany. The sculpture has an excellent patina especially under the base and is signed with a mark incised under two legs of the dog, the first mark used by the manufacture as you can see from the last photos, so it is one of the very first editions of the late 1800s or early 1900s. The Goebel manufacture was founded in Germany in 1871. In the last photos we have put some historical notions of the manufacture with the marks used, as you can see ours is one of the first.

Useful information for evaluating the object:
from an internet search we find that sculptures of dogs and small animals similar to ours, with the first brand, are offered from 350-400 euros up to over 1,000 euros, while those with a younger brand are offered at much lower prices.

Final considerations on the object:
The sculpture is extremely nice and was made in an evident and beautiful deco style, decorated in bright red and with a slightly caricatural flavor. It is a very first edition with a very old brand, it is not one of the many subsequent re-editions of Goebel, therefore a piece of great value. This piece has an attribution mark,
