A rare and highly collectible framed paper tablecloth by Jean Cocteau, created in 1947 and exhibited that same year at the Paul Morihien Gallery at the Palais-Royal in Paris. This exceptional piece is part of the famous “Exposition de Nappes de Restaurant”, where Cocteau showcased paper tablecloths he had cut and drawn on during intimate meals with some of the 20th century’s most iconic cultural figures—Louis Aragon, Balthus, Paul Éluard, Leonor Fini, Alberto Giacometti, Dora Maar, Pablo Picasso, among others.
This fragment, measuring 16 x 16 cm, is a poignant example of Cocteau’s ability to turn the ephemeral into art. Playful, poetic, and deeply rooted in the artistic spirit of postwar France, it remains a testament to both his circle and his creative spontaneity.
Professionally framed under glass, this piece offers a unique opportunity to own an original Cocteau tied directly to a legendary historical moment in 20th-century art. This piece has an attribution mark,
