Painted in Chicago in the 1970’s & recently authenticated by the artist himself. His work has a Peter Max psychedelic influence. the artists name address, and old telephone number, along with the original asking price of the painting ($150.00) is written in pencil on the back. This is one of seven pieces we purchased from the estate of the artists brother. This is perhaps our favorite piece in the collection. See our other listings for other pieces by Allen Zeleski.

The piece depicts a dark smoggy cityscape background, with water flowing from it, and below this scene, a full lobster dinner- including wine, grapes, bell peppers, tomatoes, corn, an artichoke, and wine.

Of course, the meaning of the piece is to be decided by the viewer. But for me, keeping in mind the painting dates to the 1970’s, I see this as a representation of the rapid urbanization and Industrialization of our planet, reminding us that the food we eat, which of course come from the earth, will be impacted. The reverberations from mans desire to modify his surroundings and dominate nature will come full circle. See less
