A beautiful still life oil on canvas 68”x44” by Belgian Artist Jacques Callaert, very well executed painting-signed lower right Callaert '80, in a grand wood frame.
It would be wonderful to hang in a large kitchen, dining room, or even a fine restaurant for great visual impact and a Hollywood vibe!
Jacques Callaert (Ghent, 3 October 1921-Ostend, 13 October 1996) was a Belgian painter. He studied at the Ghent Academy and the Academy Libre in Paris. During the Second World War he was employed in Germany , before he fled and was a volunteer in the American army. Callaert settled in 1952 in Middelkerke, Belgium. In 1959 he made a trip to the Belgian Congo, which he crossed by car and where he exhibited in various cities. He exhibited at the Casino Middelkerke (1959, 1960), Casino Arosa (1960, 1961), Carlton (Knokke Salt) (1959, 1960) and participated in the exhibitions of the Ostend Art Circle in the 1950s. He had a Studio in Palm Beach, Florida for a brief period.
