This very Rare Pairpoint "Sweet Meat" decorative item measures: 12.5 inches tall x 16 inches wide x 7 inches deep. This piece was on the cover of the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company Catalog 1894, thus Making the item approx. 125 years old.
The piece would have originally had a decoration on the top of the center piece, perhaps a Cherub as shown on the catalog along with two glass bowls for the "sweet meat". These pieces are missing.
The item has the two original Cherubs sitting on turtles with whips that are in the center of the item that are so charming. The item would have been Silver plated and there is some left but is not cleaned to see the true condition. This piece says to leave as found!
I can see placing Pilar candles on the two round disks, or even other glass bowls to hold flowers or even candy. This is one of those rare finds that are statement pieces to be enjoyed for many more years!!
