This semi-antique Persian Melayer runner, measuring 3'4" by 15'6", is handwoven with wool on a cotton foundation in Iran's Hamadan region. Persian rugs are deeply rooted in Iran’s rich artistic and cultural heritage, with weaving traditions dating back to the Bronze Age. The oldest surviving examples originate from the Safavid dynasty of the 16th century, reflecting centuries of craftsmanship and history.
