This vibrant piece depicts Kintarō in a playful yet heroic pose with a large koi carp, a traditional symbol of bravery, strength, and perseverance in Japanese culture.

Made from thick plaster with a glossy varnished finish, it features bold colours and a delightfully naïve hand-painted style, typical of 1950s Japanese folk art (mingei). Figures like this were often used as toys or decorations during festivals such as Kodomo no Hi (Children’s Day).

In good vintage condition with minor signs of age.
