The naturalistic form captures detailed musculature and expressive antlers with striking realism, reflecting the influence of the French animaliers and early Art Deco style. The warm patinated bronze is mounted on an organically shaped marble base, textured to resemble rocky terrain.
The piece is signed DE. FIESOLE, a sculptor active in the early 20th century whose name appears on several bronze animal figures from the period.
