Small altar piece or stand, red and gold lacquer, Meiji period, late 19th century.
This object, made of red lacquered wood (Urushi), comes from the Nara region of Japan.
It is refined and well-proportioned, and clearly authentic.
The overall condition is very good, despite normal wear and tear, which has given it a superb patina.
