The centerpiece of this elegant trio of antique porcelain vases is a richly detailed work that captures the charm of an idyllic countryside. On one side, the central vase features a painted rural scene: two girls carrying flowers walk behind a dog who, in a whimsical touch, carries blossoms in its mouth.
The trio moves along a tranquil path framed by slender trees and a soft, clouded sky, while a thatched-roof cottage nestles peacefully in the background, evoking a timeless pastoral serenity.
On the reverse, the vase transforms into an impressionistic floral composition. Here, white blossoms with bright yellow centers bloom vibrantly against a warm blush-pink background, their petals surrounded by strokes of green, lavender, and blue foliage.
The vase is richly adorned with two elegantly curved handles— finished in gleaming gold on front and a deep crimson on the back. The delicately scalloped rim is brushed in a soft cream hue and decorated with a stylized floral pattern in shades of orange and gold, tying together the overall warmth of the piece. Measuring 12.5ʺ wide, 5ʺ deep, and 13.5ʺ high, it commands attention without overwhelming its companions.
Flanking this central vase is a pair of antique porcelain vases by the Rubian Art Pottery Co. of England, each with a similar harmonizing aesthetic. These vases feature a gently blended palette that transitions from a deep cocoa brown at the base to a smoky lavender haze near the rim, mimicking the sunset.
Their central design showcases a stately windmill with golden blades and a dark, angular body, set amidst gently arching trees. Birds soar across the subtly tinted sky, introducing a sense of movement and life. At 5ʺ wide, 5ʺ deep, and 11ʺ high, they are slightly smaller in scale than the central vase, providing balance and symmetry without competing for dominance.
Despite their different origins and themes, these vases go remarkably well together. The central vase’s rural narrative and lush florals harmonize with the flanking vases’ pastoral windmill scenes.
The color palettes—especially the lavender hues, soft greens, and touches of gold—create visual continuity, while their differences in decoration and form add contrast and character. Together, they form a cohesive and captivating display that will work well in many interior design schemes
