This vintage Turkish Kilim floor cushion is handwoven with wool on a wool foundation in the Oushak region of eastern Turkey, measuring 2'9" x 5'9". Kilims and flat weaves are distinguished by their pile-less construction, created by tightly interlacing warp and weft threads to form a smooth, flat surface. Typically crafted on horizontal looms, this technique yields sharp geometric patterns. Lighter and softer than traditional pile rugs, kilims have historically served multiple purposes, including use as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, tablecloths, wall hangings, and insulation against harsh cold.
