Translation of Label (Description):
The Cathedral of Milan Colored copper engraving
in the style of the “optical views” that were printed
in the 18th century.
On the right is the name of the publisher in Paris.
The Cathedral is depicted according to the Buzzi project.
Vintage 1770 edition. Arrigoni 458.

Condition: Very nice antique condition with age as shown.
Please see on your computer for close ups but
is in excellent 250 year old condition.
Frame strong with some flaking of
the Gold/Metal Leaf.

Background:
Louis-Joseph Mondhare (1734- August 21 1796) was a well known French Engraver
and Publisher of Maps Prints and Views d'Optique active in the late 18th Century..
He began publishing around 1760 under the Chez Mondhare imprint until 1784
when his son in law joined the business when imprint was changed to Mondhare & Jean.
The Mondhare firm maintained they're office at the Hotel Saumar a well known area for print sellers near St.Severin..The firm ceased operation around 1796. See less
