Item description:
Wonderful dark blue Jasperware biscuit tin with white Jasperware bas-relief decorations depicting classical scenes and trees. Dated 1891 with a handwritten label from the art gallery that sold the item, with a Sheffield silver-plated lid, signed under the base with the mark "Wedgwood England" stamped into the ceramic, without the words "Made in" which were only used from 1940 onwards. There are also stamps engraved on the Sheffield metal, one in the shape of a fly and one with the letters "UPNS."

Our research shows that Wedgwood pieces from the same period as our biscuit tin are offered by other sellers on various online art and antiques sales sites at very high prices, ranging from €400 to €2,000-2,500 for the most beautiful and elaborate vases. We also found biscuit tins similar to ours being sold based on their period of production, ranging from a minimum of €100-200 for the most recent and least elaborate to over €600 for the oldest and most elaborate. Ours dates back to 1891, making it one of the oldest, for which the highest prices are asked, ranging from €500 to €600.
