Offered is a very rare tall Viking bowl and serving tongs designed by Jens Quistgaard for Dansk in the late 1950s. Round staved mutenye wood with two handles reminiscent of the horns on a Viking helmet. The tongs have sharply angled handles that serve to rest on the sides or horns of the bowl without sliding in. This piece was part of the Rare Woods Collection, model 1636, made in Denmark, and is both a testament and homage to Scandinavian mid 20th century design. Marked "Mutenye Dansk Designs Danmark"
Bowl Measures 14.25" high at handles, 13.5" wide, 11.5" deep.
Tongs measure 11.5" long, 3.25" wide, 4" deep

- This piece is in very good condition and shows minimal signs of wear. The visible surfaces and interior of the … moreThis piece is in very good condition and shows minimal signs of wear. The visible surfaces and interior of the bowl have no nicks, chips, scratches, cracks, chips, utensil marks or fissures. The base of the bowl had minor scuffs but we have buffed and cleaned them. The tongs appear to be unused. All pieces have been cleaned and conditioned with food safe oil. Any wear is commensurate with use. Please please PLEASE never place your vintage wood items in a dishwasher - hand wash and towel dry. The Scandinavian Viking Gods of Teak and Exotic Woods are watching. less
