Crafted from durable stoneware, each is modeled in the form of a tree trunk, complete with two raised knots, deeply textured bark, and a wonderfully aged surface covered in garden patina—lichens, moss remnants, and traces of soil that speak to decades of outdoor life. Faux bois, French for “false wood,” originated in 19th-century France, where artisans used concrete and stoneware to mimic the textures of real wood in garden structures and vessels.
