Designed circa 1930 by Marguerite Friedlaender (later Wildenhain), this marked porcelain vase was created during her collaboration with the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) in Berlin. Measuring 5.5 inches in height, it reflects the influence of Friedlaender’s Bauhaus training at Weimar—where she studied under Gerhard Marcks—and her pursuit of form-driven modernist design. The piece exemplifies the minimalist ethos of early 20th-century German applied arts, featuring a refined spherical silhouette and finely crackled ivory glaze. Produced during her tenure at KPM from 1929 to 1933, and bearing the manufacturer’s mark beneath the base, this vase stands as a documented example of German design at the intersection of craft and modernism.
Photographed against various background colors to highlight glaze texture and tonal variation under shifting light.
