It's about the size of a … Read more Offered here for your consideration is an folky, antique painted American lift lid box. It's about the size of a cigar box and has a great original painted surface. It has machined dovetails. The top has a polychrome painted owner's monogram.

There are brass hinges on the back and a clunky, folded over brass closure on the front. The lid has lost moisture and shrunk a bit so that it isn't quite flush with the front anymore.

We can't quite tell the color of the paint. It is either an oxidized navy blue, a deep green, or possibly even a shade of black paint.

A really nice peice of Americana!

It is in overall good to fair used, as pictured estate condition with a small spot of loss to the front right corner, some surface wear, scratches, losses, crazing to paint, minor splits to wood and other signs of light wear commensurate with age.

Overall, it's just a terrific little box with a really nice original surface!
