Constructed by hand using chisel and hammer and … Read more Fantastic antique French late 1800's hand-hewn hand-carved solid wood armoire/ linen press. Constructed by hand using chisel and hammer and hand-held plane. The top crown removes for transportation and the doors come off hinges. It had all its antique handmade shelves but some were warped as they do over time due to rooms with no air conditioning at that time. One original shelf remains and new shelves have been cut to fit. New brackets were made for all the shelves. This can easily be turned into a wardrobe, media station, bar, closet for folded clothing and used as is as a linen press, wardrobe, blanket chest, storage closet, hanging closet and a myriad of other uses. It's been waxed and French polished for decades and maintains its gorgeous patina unlike anything newly made today. The hand-hewn construction is visible to the eye and to the physical touch; and it shines. This is a fantastic antique armoire shipped from its original location in France directly to the USA and used by a single owner until today. It is truly a one of a kind made with love by hand and took a lot of time to construct. It has a lifetime ahead of it. See less
