The teardrop shaped stopper is engraved with a ring of ovals around the bulb and also has a large internal teardrop bubble. The bottom of the decanter has a ground pontil and is marked with an engraved "G" or "6". Pinched waist Kuttrolf vessels of this shape were made in Europe as early as the 4th century in Roman Gaul (France) and then enjoyed a revival in the form of Kuttrolf decanters from the 1880s - 1920s

Some whiskey experts say the five flow paths created by the pinched waist allow for the even distribution of the alcohol molecules which optimizes the bloom of the spirit's subtle characteristics and complexity.

This piece is in very good antique condition with tiny chips to the bottom edge of the stopper, a pinpoint chip to the decanter near the shoulder, and white mineral deposits from use inside the decanter on the bottom and the bottom quarter of the walls. See photos for condition..
