An antique 19th century Victorian style mold blown glass decanter with a quilted thumbnail pattern on the body, rings at the top and bottom of a plain neck for good gripping, and a faceted spire stopper with a matching thumbnail pattern. The decanter body was made from a three part mold and the stopper from a two part mold. This is likely an American decanter produced by Bakewell, Pears, & Co between 1860 - 1882 as part of their Argus line of pattern glass.
In very good antique condition with a damaged area between two thumbnails, a pinpoint size impact chip just below the top set of neck rings, a tiny clear blister in the lower of the two top neck rings (right above impact chip) from production, annealing lines and checks by the mold seam line at the shoulder from production, occasional bubbles and tiny glass inclusions from production, wear to the bottom consistent with age, and white cloudy residue on the bottom which can likely be cleaned. See photos.
Dimensions: 14 3/8" tall (with stopper) x 4 1/2" diameter, 10 3/8" tall (without stopper)
