An ink drawing by the American artist Milton Hebald (1917-2015). This abstract work depicts a nude female figure reclining as she gazes off to the side. Signed to the upper right, the drawing is displayed in a gold tone frame and a white mat.
Milton Hebald is best known for his figurative bronze works; many of which can be seen on the streets of New York City, where he was born. Throughout his lifetime he attended prestigious art institutions including the Art Students League of New York, the National Academy of Design and the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design. In New York City he taught at the Art Students League, The Cooper Union, the American Artists School, among others. Hebald was awarded the Prix de Rome Fellowship to the American Academy in Rome in 1955, 1956 and 1957. He stayed in Italy, living in Rome, with his wife, painter, Cecille Rosner Hebald. In 2004, six years after his wife's death, he returned to the United States to be near his family.
