Elegant set of three original mid-19th-century French botanical engravings (circa 1840s–1860s), hand-colored and presented in matching gilt rope frames with double matting, offering a unified and refined display ideal for a gallery wall or curated interior.
Originally published in Paris as part of the esteemed Dictionnaire Universel d’Histoire Naturelle (1841–1849), these engravings exemplify the golden age of 19th-century botanical illustration, when art and science were seamlessly intertwined. Each plate reflects exceptional scientific precision and artistry, featuring finely rendered botanical studies with detailed dissections and original Latin nomenclature.

The hand-colored plates retain excellent clarity and color, and the matching gilt rope frames present beautifully with minor, expected wear. One engraving shows a very small, unobtrusive tear at the upper left corner, and another exhibits minor spot/foxing consistent with age. These details are subtle and not visually distracting.
