BACCARAT Manufacture - a design by Georges Chevalier.
Extremely rare oval perfume bottle with a bulbous body, crafted from solid, press-molded translucent crystal with a relief decoration of stylized friezes evoking draperies, highlighted with brush-applied gold highlights.
Thick gold neck, topped with its original gold stopper.
Art Deco period, circa 1925.
Work produced by BACCARAT, based on a design by Georges Chevalier (1894-1987), created for the 1925 Exposition des Arts Décoratifs.
This bottle, being antique, does not bear the Baccarat signature, but the design is not unknown and can be found on various media (internet, books, catalogs).
Condition: Good condition, but some discreet and minor wear, illustrated in photos and detailed below.
Original stopper; no chips or damage; perfectly clear, brilliant crystal, without clouding or alteration.
Slight signs of use:
- stopper: slight loss of gilding; tiny crystal chip on one side, without any real impact; chip under the base of the stopper, in its submerged part, therefore not visible (it is a fairly noticeable chip, but it is located under the stopper);
- body of the bottle: slight loss of gilding in places; tiny enamel chip of about 1 millimeter;
- a few scratches on the back of the base; slight remnants of perfume in the bottom of the bottle, which needs to be cleaned).
All these details are practically invisible. These are completely normal and usual signs of use.
The bottle therefore remains in excellent condition; it is a beautiful and rare piece, very well preserved. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
