The French doors open wide to fill the space with sunlight and fresh scents from the lush, manicured garden. All the room needs is this lovely painting in a frame topped by a subtle portrait light. It would be very hard to leave.
The artist Irene Stry (1899-1963) and her husband left their native Hungary in 1923, and once here in the United States and working as a freelance artist, she became known for her Impressionist paintings of seascapes and landscapes, particularly of Cape Cod, as well as for colorful floral still-life paintings like this one.
