Wilhelm Kåge was a Swedish artist and designer, mainly known as a ceramic designer and as the artistic leader of the Gustavsberg porcelain factory.
While it features colors and forms from the period, this iconic work adds depth and visual movement to them through its unique stoneware, glazing, reeding, geometric and organic patterns, and stylized organic form. The work's form can simultaneously evoke water and flora and their symbolic attributes, causing it suggest surrealist qualities.
