It features a colorful decoration of vine leaves and bunches of grapes on a speckled gray-beige background. Its raw and rustic look blends perfectly with a country or bohemian ambiance, or will contrast well in a more refined setting.

The ceramic is beautifully crafted, with a simultaneously raw and rustic feel. It is a good size and in very good condition. The Accolay water or wine jug is signed with a stylus on its back.

In the mid-20th century, Accolay was the setting for a true revolution in ceramics. Four former students of Alexandre Kostanda settled in the small village in the Yonne department in the mid-1940s, and many potters followed their example. For some forty years, the Accolay potters' production was impressive, original, and daring.
