This vintage Turkish Kilim, measuring 7'11" by 10'7", is handwoven with wool on a wool foundation in the Oushak region of Turkey. Kilims and flat weaves are characterized by their lack of pile, achieved through the tight interlacing of warp and weft threads to create a flat surface. Typically woven on horizontal looms, this method produces clear geometric patterns. Lighter and softer than traditional pile rugs, kilims have been used as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, tablecloths, wall hangings, and as insulation against severe cold.
