The … Read more A well designed floor lamp by swiss designer and professor carl moor, produced by bag turgi in the 1950's. The lamp features two diabolo-shaped metal shades, one in red and one in off white, mounted on a slender black frame. The contrast in color gives it a playful rhythm, while the shapes are deliberately in sync — especially visible in the way the upper parts of the shades mirror each other. The red shade is adjustable, allowing for directional light during reading for example. The tubular frame is fixed onto a heavy base via an exposed clamping mechanism — a functional detail that adds visual interest. The foot switch operates both lights at once, with an additional small brass toggle to control one of them separately. The lacquer on both shades is original, with a few minimal signs of age, which makes it very special.

the piece has not been restored and was left intentionally as found — showing honest traces of 75 years of use. The foot is visibly patinated, with small rust spots preserved to highlight the lamp’s age and authenticity. These could be retouched on request, but we’ve chosen to keep them for now. A rare and characterful piece with just the right balance between geometry and imperfection. Several lamps by bag turgi may surface now and then, but this one stands out — both in condition and expression. The design brings together a bold and balanced combination of red, and white — a palette unmistakably reminiscent of the swiss flag. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
