A superb abstract tall studio cylindrical floor vessel by renowned potter Robin Welch (British 1936-2019). Stamped mark. Circa 1990's.
The stepped stoneware vase has a textural two-tone black and cream matte glaze with wonderful slip hint detail. Impressed potter's seal to side. The slip colours would probably have been to Welch's own formula.
A vase of this size will have been fired in two or three separate sections and put together afterwards. The low success rate of firing this scale of piece means that there are not many of this size about. In very good condition, with no damage. This piece has an attribution mark,
