More about the Designer
John Dickinson (1920–1982) was a San Francisco-based designer known for his imaginative, often surreal approach to interiors and furniture.

Using materials like plaster, wood, and metal, he created pieces that played with illusion—rigid forms that appeared soft, playful shapes with classical roots.

His work blends historical references with a modern sensibility, resulting in a body of design that is both conceptually rich and visually striking. Though produced in limited numbers, Dickinson’s creations have become icons of American design and are now part of major museum and private collections worldwide.

Origination: USA, 1970s. Purchased from private collection, Switzerland 2025.

Signs of use in the form of scratches in the clear coat, some corrosion to the brass and loss of finish as per images. Other than a normal clean up, we have left this piece untouched.
