Rare 19th C. Native American burden basket, with hand stitched leather embellishments' and latching closure's. This is a soft and pliable basket handmade of woven dyed tule. The embellished cover is detached and still rests comfortably on rim's surface. Having all the desirable signs of a natural timeworn piece. Used by various Native American tribes, primarily used for carrying food, wood, and personal belongings. A wonderful decorative bookshelf artifact.
