A contemporary Abstract Expressionist oil painting on canvas titled "Where We Met" by Paul VerBurg. Hand signed lower right. A bold field of golden yellow—punctuated by raised, dot-like forms—occupies the upper canvas, descending into a darker, more shadowed plane. At the center, a delicate oval arc encircles a dynamic interplay of burgundy, cobalt, and earth tones, suggesting a moment of convergence or cosmic alignment. VerBurg’s masterful use of surface texture, from impasto ridges to iridescent overlays, brings a sculptural presence to the composition. From a private collection; acquired directly from the artist. Dimensions: 28.75 inches tall, 28.5 inches wide, and 2.75 inched deep. In excellent condition.
Paul VerBurg is a multidisciplinary artist trained in drawing and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Now based in Okemos, Michigan, VerBurg explores sculpture, assemblage, and abstract painting rooted in natural and physical forms. His work—ranging from plein air landscapes to genre-blending abstractions—has been exhibited nationally at institutions including the Eiteljorg Museum and the Autry Museum, and featured in Southwest Art and Art of the West. Active since the 1980s, his practice reflects a continual evolution of media and subject.
