This rare, limited edition etching by Ed Baynard, dated 1980 and numbered 19 of just 24 impressions, exemplifies the artist’s minimalist and serene aesthetic. The composition presents a refined floral arrangement in a decorative vessel, rendered with precise lines and an elegant simplicity. Baynard’s hallmark influences—Japanese woodblock prints, Zen composition, and early 20th-century American modernism—are all evident in the quiet sophistication of the piece. The print bears a watermark in the lower left and is pencil-signed and dated by the artist in the lower right.

Artist Bio:
Ed Baynard (1940–2016) was a self-taught American artist known for his distinctive still lifes and printmaking. Influenced by Japanese Ukiyo-e prints and minimalist aesthetics, Baynard built a career defined by poetic restraint and formal clarity. After working as a designer in Europe during the 1960s—including graphic work for The Beatles and costume design for film and rock stars—he returned to the U.S. in 1971 and held his first solo show at Willard Gallery in New York.
Baynard began producing fine prints in collaboration with master printer Kenneth Tyler in the late 1970s, embracing etching, lithography, and woodcuts. His works are included in major museum collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Gallery of Art.
