Unique set of expressive portrait studies in watercolor and ink by Santa Cruz artist Bob Newick (American, 20th Century). Signed "To Wendy / In Friendship / Bob Newick" in lower left. Displayed in a simple wood frame. Image size: 28"H x 22"L.
Newick is a Santa Cruz, California artist known for watercolor landscapes and seascapes. Bob’s career in art began with study at University of Oregon, Portland Academy of Advertising Art, and Chicago Academy of Fine Art. Newick worked as a commercial artist for IBM before retiring and turning to painting 18 years ago. He attempts to express a feeling with shapes that are non traditional as well as remove his art from the shapes people associate with specific subjects, yet making the shapes the most important aspect, maintaining a tension between abstract and the real.
