This piece is a 19th century sang de boeuf "Oxblood", red-maroon, glazed table lamp with wood base. Chinese Sang de Boeuf lamps, also known as oxblood lamps or flambé glaze lamps, are a type of traditional Chinese ceramic art that originated during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) and reached its peak of popularity in the Qing dynasty (1644-1912). The lamp has the Qing hallmark. The term "Sang de Boeuf" is French for "oxblood," referring to the rich red color of the glaze.
